Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin held talks with the UN Special Envoy for Digital Technologies A.S.Gill.

On March 31, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin had a telephone conversation with the UN Under-Secretary-General, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Digital and Emerging Technologies A.S.Gill.

During the conversation, issues related to the regulation of information and communication technologies, including artificial intelligence, were discussed. The pivotal role of the United Nations in these processes was emphasized. The sides exchanged views on the upcoming review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) this year. The importance of implementing the decisions of the WSIS related to bridging the digital divide and Internet governance was emphasized.

Sergey Vershinin invited Alexander Gill to take part in major events on digital development and international information security that will be held in Russia in the coming months.
