Russia and the Global South Expand Digital Cooperation

On 5 June, during the Global Digital Forum in Nizhny Novgorod, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Center for Global IT Cooperation and representatives of international organisations from the Global South. The document marks an important step toward strengthening partnerships in digital technologies, paving the way for new joint projects, knowledge exchange and a deeper international dialogue.

The memorandum was signed by Vadim Glushchenko, Director of the Center for Global IT Cooperation, together with representatives of organisations from Africa and Asia—Nigeria, Uganda, Burundi, Bangladesh and the Philippines. The partners include non-profit foundations, research and educational associations, youth movements and digital-platform representatives.

The parties agreed to:

●      develop joint ICT initiatives,

●      support research and analytical projects,

●      create professional IT communities,

●      hold joint events—conferences, forums and round-tables.

Co-operation will be based on the principles of equality, openness and mutual respect.

Vadim Glushchenko emphasised:

“These memoranda lay the groundwork for strong links between the IT ecosystems of Russia and the Global South. We are pooling our efforts, expertise and resources for a shared digital future—inclusive, secure and open to all. Such steps build the trust we need and make international cooperation vibrant, effective and equitable.”

The signing ceremony symbolised a new stage of collaboration—focused on practical digital solutions, support for local initiatives and the promotion of joint approaches on the global digital agenda.
