The Solar Group, an architect of comprehensive cyber-security, has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with two Cuban organisations—IT company ETI and the national telecom operator ETECSA—during the Global Digital Forum 2025, held on 5–6 June in Nizhny Novgorod. The parties plan to launch and develop projects for training personnel in information security, as well as to exchange experience and expertise in deploying nation-scale protected infrastructure.
ETI is a subsidiary of the state biotech and pharmaceutical holding BioCubaFarma. It specialises in cyber-security services, cloud IT infrastructure, software development and data-centre services.
ETECSA is Cuba’s sole communications operator, providing fixed and mobile telephony, data-transfer and internet services. The company also works on digitalising government services, renting virtual servers, consulting and more. ETECSA supplies internet and communications to over 7.5 million people and operates more than 400 retail outlets, 430 telephone service points and 31 000+ telecom agents.
Cuba is a promising market with a strong demand for digital transformation and the protection of critical infrastructure. Planned cooperation with Cuban IT and telecom companies therefore includes cyber-security initiatives. The partners have identified several priorities: hands-on training for cyber-security specialists, development of security infrastructure, and sharing experience in building a nation-level cyber-security system.
“Signing the memorandum with ETI and ETECSA is an important step in Solar Group’s strategy to strengthen international cooperation in cyber-security. Together with our partners we will focus on introducing Russian security technologies and on training personnel who will, in the long run, enhance Cuba’s resilience to cyber-threats. We are consistently broadening our engagement with the region’s business community: in 2024 we laid the foundation for partnership with Segurmatica, and now we are consolidating our position through cooperation with key players in Cuba’s IT and telecom market,” — Igor Lyapunov, Chief Executive Officer of the Solar Group.
