Quiz on the Role of the Russian Language in the Global Network Held at the Global Digital Forum

On the second day of the Global Digital Forum, 6 June, the delegation of the .RU/.РФ Coordination Center hosted the quiz “Study the Internet—Govern It!” to mark Russian Language Day and the 226th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.

The quiz questions focused on the history of the Internet, the role of the Russian language in the World Wide Web, and the emergence and growth of Cyrillic domains—above all the .РФ domain, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

Russian is a language that unites peoples: 255 million users employ it online. The Cyrillic top-level domain .РФ counts more than 765 000 domain names—making it the largest not only among Cyrillic TLDs but among all IDN top-level domains written in national scripts.

Forum guests can test their knowledge of the Internet and the domain-name system today at 14:00 in the Digital Economy pavilion. The quiz is conducted in Russian and English.
