Educational Activities of the Global Fact-Checking Network

In a world where information spreads at incredible speed and fake news and disinformation are becoming increasingly sophisticated, the ability to verify facts gains particular value — not only for journalists and researchers, but also for anyone who uses the Internet. To help people acquire this skill, the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN) is actively working on developing educational materials on fact-checking.

The GFCN will soon launch an educational section on its official website: globalfactchecking.com. This section will offer a course on fact-checking, allowing anyone to learn how to verify information, recognize disinformation, and develop critical thinking skills. The course will include video lectures and written materials prepared by experts from ANO Dialogue Regions and international GFCN specialists.

Written articles will complement the video courses by deepening users’ understanding of the material: they will provide analysis of common mistakes in the fact-checking process and offer guidance on using verification tools. The educational section is scheduled to launch at the end of June 2025. Educational content will be partly accessible for free, another part will be available exclusively to the GFCN members.

Later on, the educational section will also include specialized fact-checking tests designed to assess and monitor website users’ knowledge.

Fact-checking education will be conducted both online and offline — through educational events. The first offline educational track will take place on June 5 at the Global Digital Forum, in partnership with the New Media Workshop. It will bring together participants from various countries and offer hands-on, in-depth training in information verification.

Moreover, during the Global Digital Forum, relevant educational institutions and universities will have the opportunity to join a Memorandum of Cooperation with the GFCN to support future joint educational initiatives.
