The digital environment has long become an integral part of childhood, while simultaneously introducing new, rapidly evolving risks — from cyberbullying and harmful content to emotional dependency. These challenges demand comprehensive international solutions.
At the Global Digital Forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation in Creating a Safe Digital Environment for Children will be signed. Representatives of civil and educational organizations, IT experts, and opinion leaders from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East have joined the initiative.
The partner in charge is the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment – an association of Russia’s largest technology companies that has been promoting the idea of safe digital childhood in Russia and beyond since 2021.
«The signing of the memorandum is a step toward forming a global community where different countries, languages, and cultures unite for a single goal: ensuring that children feel not lost but heard and protected in the digital environment. We are confident that, together with international partners, we can develop effective, adaptive, and humane approaches to digital safety», emphasizes Elizaveta Belyakova, Chairperson of the Alliance.
The document outlines cooperation across a wide range of areas: sharing knowledge and best practices, conducting joint research, and developing digital tools—from content filtering and parental controls to educational platforms and services for parents and teachers.
Special attention is given to projects on digital literacy, fostering responsible online behavior, psycho-emotional resilience, and preventing digital addiction. The memorandum highlights the importance of business partnerships, harmonizing legislation, and creating international platforms for knowledge exchange.
On June 6, 2025, as part of the Global Digital Forum in Nizhny Novgorod, the signing ceremony with the participation of new international partners will take place. To date, the memorandum has already been signed by 22 organizations.
